I guess it's another bug. Why, after publishing numerous versions of Windows, can't Microsoft produce one that works?! Tuesday, November 2, PM. I've been wondering about this since the first Win 7 release. MCTS Certified. Tuesday, January 11, AM. I get the same thing, windows 7 32 bit, click sort, it does it reversed, then sort again, and its correct. To change this, we need to right-click on the desktop.
We need to hover the mouse cursor over 'View'. We have to untick 'Align icons to grid'. Now, if we drag an icon to any place, it will remain there. To revert this process, we right-click on the desktop. We hover the mouse cursor over 'View'.
We tick 'Align icons to grid'. For the purpose of the demonstration, the icons are moved to the corners again.
We right-click on the desktop to enable the next option that offers automatic alignment. For example, if an icon is moved away from its original location, then the icon will return to its position when the button is released.
If we drag the icon down the list, a white line will appear. So its allot of work. I will have a try with the script tomorrow if i get time Thanks. I agree that using the script would be more efficient in the circumstances! Yer of course, i am doing it as a do them now. I think I'd be in for all sorts of ear-ache if I tried rearranging people's icons!
The pupil desktop has a fixed unchangeable layout, so that doesn't need it. The staff one looks pretty when they logon for the first time, but what they choose to do to it afterwards is their problem. I'm not sure who's being more anal here to have their icons arranged in such a manner.. Originally Posted by Iain. I'm having a similar issue with Windows 7. This thread is locked.
