Do old radios have dead channels? When I am at one of these dead channels, I have to turn the volume almost all the way up to hear the squelch. I opened up the radio and all of the tube light up. Even when the radio is off, it seem to be on. I could feel it when I hold the sides.

It is in perfect shape. I would like any info that you have on this radio. I have used the radio for 2 days now running into a JB I am using a Aries desk mic. I was suprised that all the guys I talk to say it is the best sounding radio I have. They compare it to one of the guys Yaesu radio with hiel mic!

Some say it is so clean that it sounds like FM. It shows about 4 watts key swinging to about 15 or so pep. What about a power mod or some tune up info? The radio looks interesting on the scope compared to some of my transistor radios.
